Gandy Reunion (Cowboy Cake #2)

The Gandy Reunion on Thanksgiving was western theme (like the Driver reunion cake on 6/16/07). So this is basically a copy of the other cake...only round. The center icing layer also has chocolate chips...mmmmmmmm.

Happy 4th Birthday Jamie

This was Jamie's Birthday cake (obviously). She wanted roses in honor of her favorite saint: St. Therese. I needed the practice anyways :) Pretty!

Simple Birthdays

This was a simple birthday cake for JC's grandmother and brother and anyone else for that matter that was at the mini-family reunion and had a birthday recently. (As you can see the candles were already taken out before the picture was taken)

Experiment-Orange Soda Cake

Again, this was more about experimenting with recipes than the decorating. It is an orange soda cake with tangy orange flavored whipped icing. Not the best flavor in my opinion unless you like tangy orange and very sweet cake! Happy Birthday Mom! Update: This cake actually tasted pretty good. It was very refreshing for the hot summer days!

Flavor! Strawberry

I'm branching out a bit and trying new recipes for cake and icing rather than putting alot into decorating at the moment. This is a cool strawberry marble cake with strawberries in the layer and a sour cream/whipped cream icing. Yummy
! I made this one for the 4th of July BBQ.

Family Reunion Cowboy Cake

I made this for the Driver Family Reunion. Obviously it was a western theme. The 5 accessories on the cake are not edible and are made of wood. The top border is a rope lasso made from icing Which matches the lasso cupcakes. Simple but fun.

Ordination Anniversary

Our Priest, Father Michael Forge, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of his Ordination. I jumped at the opportunity to make the cake for the party. It's 2 layers of Dark Chocolate Cake with a Turquoise and Chocolate Brown frosting. (I wanted it to be Baby Blue and Chocolate but I put too much coloring...oops!) Still, I think it turned out OK. The number 10 is actually made of House Numbers from the the hardware section, that are dipped in melted chocolate. Very cool! (The picture above is blurry)

1st Communion

I had the honor of being asked by our church's director of religious education to decorate the cakes for the 1st Communion Reception. It was ALOT of cake... and I mean alot of volume. I guess this small homemaker just doesn't have the stamina (or the oven space). I don't plan on doing it again but I look forward to making more center-pieces in the future!

Happy 1st Birthday John Paul

For my son's first birthday I decided to make a 3-D train cake. I couldn't find the 3-D pan at the store so I made my own with mini loaf pans and twinkies. The track is made out of licorice, the wheels are made out of big & small oreos, & the smoke is made of cotton candy.

Wedding Cake #2

My client happened to be my husband's 2nd cousin. They needed to feed 200+ people. The colors were light & dark ivory. I wasn't too thrilled on the shades that I got out of the icing, but the bride approved before I made the cake... so that's all that counts! See detailed pics below. (Sizes are 16", 12", 9", 6")
