Simple Gluten Free Cupcakes

No.  This is NOT what they should look like.  This was after my 2 year old got ahold of them while I was trying to take care of the birthday girl who suddenly came down ill :(

So we celebrated a week later instead.  And I switched from purple to pink:

Cowgirl Birthday

My daughter is going through a horse phase.  So for her 9th Birthday we had a Cowgirl Party.  This was actually a Gluten AND Egg free cake so it stayed in the pan (or it would fall apart).  Here are the details about the party:

The dinnerware:  Pie plates, bandana napkins, and more
My uncle gave me an unused "disco" pinata he had.  I transformed him into a cowboy.

"Hay Stack" Rice Treates

"Cow Pattyies" (Star Crunch) and old fashioned candy

The "Chuck Wagon" served chili with lots of toppings and a variety of snacks.
Complete with Wagon Wheels (covered hula hoops)
The Saloon

Yum!

The Activities:

Uno Moo for the little ones
Decorate your own bandana (with fabric markers)
That Pinata
Horseshoes
Cowgirl Pictures

And of course Line Dancing
I think she had a great time :)

Election 2012

We take elections seriously around here.  We hold watch parties for the big ones.  This was a big one.  And a sad one.  Sorry.  It's true :P

Tennis Ball Cake

For my daughters 8th birthday she requested a tennis ball. It is a gluten free cake mix so it doesn't rise very well...thus why it's not a perfect sphere. But cool no less! The coloring was from some neon food coloring drops. It was great fun to make.

Baptism Rice Treats

With this baby I got smart and decided not to tackle a "cake" for the baptism. New mamas are just TOO tired, and my last two baptism cakes were not up to par in my opinion. So I decorated some rice krispie treats instead. The powdered sugar on top gives them a nice white softness and helps the words pop out a bit more.

Mario Birthday

My son wanted a Mario and Luigi birthday for his 5th. As of the morning of making this cake I still had no idea what angle I wanted to go. So I asked "the customer" (always advisable). He said "Mario jumping on a chocolate chip" (chocolate chip is what he calls the triangle monsters). SO...that's what he got! This was a free hand drawing on a half sheet cake.
I incorporated the "checkered flag" effect on the rim because it was also a a "Mario Kart" party.
My daughter asked for rice krispie treats too (because she can't have wheat). So I made a simple "Mario Star" and added yellow coloring to the marshmallow. Easy and turned out pretty cool!
Yes, those are his goofy parents :)

Graduation Cookie

So this is my first large cookie, made at the request of my sister-in-law. Pretty easy. This graduation head resembles another cake I made for my husband when he got his masters, but this one is made out of rice cereal treat.

Mother's Day Treat

I made a small Mother's Day "cake" with some left over Rice Krispie Treat. Just something small for fun. Yum!

1st Communion

My daughter is allergic to Eggs, Wheat, and Milk, so I made her a "Rice Krispie Treat" Cake for her 1st communion.
