For my daughters 8th birthday she requested a tennis ball. It is a gluten free cake mix so it doesn't rise very well...thus why it's not a perfect sphere. But cool no less! The coloring was from some neon food coloring drops. It was great fun to make.

Roller Coaster Cake
Do I love him, or do I love him? JC (my hubby) has teased me for years about making a roller coaster cake. So I surprised him for his 30th Birthday. I think he imagined something MUCH more elaborate though....but this is what he got. I wasn't feeling great and couldn't wait to get it done, so it's not clean but I'm a perfectionist, so nobody else cares I'm sure. Now he can stop teasing me....or come up with another challenge (which is much more likely to happen).

Puzzling 50th Birthday
My Mom is a Puzzle Master. She's done lots of so called "impossible puzzles" and will take up any challenge put before her. So for her 50th Birthday, I made her a puzzle cake. It's actually 50 pieces. The cupcakes are the "missing" white pieces from the main cake. It's more fun and colorful than your typical "over the hill" cakes at least.

Baptism Rice Treats
With this baby I got smart and decided not to tackle a "cake" for the baptism. New mamas are just TOO tired, and my last two baptism cakes were not up to par in my opinion. So I decorated some rice krispie treats instead. The powdered sugar on top gives them a nice white softness and helps the words pop out a bit more.

Mario Birthday
My son wanted a Mario and Luigi birthday for his 5th. As of the morning of making this cake I still had no idea what angle I wanted to go. So I asked "the customer" (always advisable). He said "Mario jumping on a chocolate chip" (chocolate chip is what he calls the triangle monsters). SO...that's what he got! This was a free hand drawing on a half sheet cake.
I incorporated the "checkered flag" effect on the rim because it was also a a "Mario Kart" party.
My daughter asked for rice krispie treats too (because she can't have wheat). So I made a simple "Mario Star" and added yellow coloring to the marshmallow. Easy and turned out pretty cool!
Yes, those are his goofy parents :)
