Baptism Rice Treats
With this baby I got smart and decided not to tackle a "cake" for the baptism. New mamas are just TOO tired, and my last two baptism cakes were not up to par in my opinion. So I decorated some rice krispie treats instead. The powdered sugar on top gives them a nice white softness and helps the words pop out a bit more.

Triple Baptism
A Friend of mine baptized all 3 of her boys on the same day. I had the honor of making the cake. The names are written in the finest tip available.

Lugosi

Donatello

Botticelli

And a few cupcakes for good measure.

Rose Tea Cakes
I made these little rose tea cakes for my daughter's Little Flower's Tea. The symbol for their group is a rose (which represents their patron Saint Therese "The Little Flower"). The cake is colored pink but tastes like white. They are coated with a yummy donut like glaze. I was given a special pan of rose cakes one Christmas and this was the first opportunity I had to use it. I love how the doilies give them an elegant touch.

Bella's Baptism
Look familiar??? Well it's sort of like Gianna's Cake below, but BETTER! (well, I didn't just give birth before this cake) The Cross is 3D again, but the roses have more detail and the sides are decorated.

Squires
This cake is for the Squires at St. John's. They are a group created by the Knights of Columbus for young boys. (J.C. helps lead and mentor them). They are an awesome group of guys and they do lots of services for the community and church, especially for the prolife movement. I'm very proud of them and was happy to make this cake for their yearly celebration. I copied the symbol off of their shirt. You can see the 2 side by side here:

Gianna's Baptism
This was Gianna's Baptism cake. I didn't have alot of energy to do it, so I threw it together. But the cross is 3D. The frosting looks funny because it's cream cheese frosting on a cinnamon cake (because we ate it for breakfast).

Farewell Fr. Michael

This was probably one of the most heart wrenching cakes to make....because it meant a dear friend/father/pastor of mine, Fr. Michael, was leaving. But it was good for the mourning process. Nothing special to say about this cake. But it was requested that I make a "cutable" cake. If you see the cake I made for Fr. Michael's Anniversary last year, you'll see this is much simpler. Last time NOBODY cut the cake because they were afraid to. ((Apparently it didn't matter...nobody cut this cake either))

Ordination Anniversary

Our Priest, Father Michael Forge, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of his Ordination. I jumped at the opportunity to make the cake for the party. It's 2 layers of Dark Chocolate Cake with a Turquoise and Chocolate Brown frosting. (I wanted it to be Baby Blue and Chocolate but I put too much coloring...oops!) Still, I think it turned out OK. The number 10 is actually made of House Numbers from the the hardware section, that are dipped in melted chocolate. Very cool! (The picture above is blurry)

1st Communion

I had the honor of being asked by our church's director of religious education to decorate the cakes for the 1st Communion Reception. It was ALOT of cake... and I mean alot of volume. I guess this small homemaker just doesn't have the stamina (or the oven space). I don't plan on doing it again but I look forward to making more center-pieces in the future!

1st Wedding Cake

I made this wedding cake for my Uncle Kevin and new Aunt Ruby. Their Wedding colors were Burgundy & Gold. I made 22 roses from Burgundy icing and then used gold foil leaves for accent. Of course the cake is white with white icing.

Tier #1 Detail is "KBR" (their monogram). Hard to see because of the flash.

Tier #2 Detail is "10-27-06".

Tier #3 Detail is "Live, Laugh, Love" (their motto).

Baptism Flop

The cake is cinnimon swirl with cream cheese frosting (it was served for breakfast). The words read "God Bless John Paul" & "4-2-06" at the bottom. This was my son's baptism cake... that's why there are shells on either side... not my favorite decorating job. This date marked the 1 year anniversary of JP2's death.
