Jamie Cake: doTERRA

My daughter Jamie decorated a doTERRA Essential Oil Bottle for my birthday cake this year.  Very creative!  She takes after her mama :)

Chess Birthday

My son is absolutely obsessed with the game of Chess right now. So for his 6th birthday I made him a chess board.

The Birthday Boy:

Oh.  And this is how I roll!

Roller Coaster Cake

Do I love him, or do I love him? JC (my hubby) has teased me for years about making a roller coaster cake. So I surprised him for his 30th Birthday. I think he imagined something MUCH more elaborate though....but this is what he got. I wasn't feeling great and couldn't wait to get it done, so it's not clean but I'm a perfectionist, so nobody else cares I'm sure. Now he can stop teasing me....or come up with another challenge (which is much more likely to happen).

Puzzling 50th Birthday

My Mom is a Puzzle Master. She's done lots of so called "impossible puzzles" and will take up any challenge put before her. So for her 50th Birthday, I made her a puzzle cake. It's actually 50 pieces. The cupcakes are the "missing" white pieces from the main cake. It's more fun and colorful than your typical "over the hill" cakes at least.

Mario Birthday

My son wanted a Mario and Luigi birthday for his 5th. As of the morning of making this cake I still had no idea what angle I wanted to go. So I asked "the customer" (always advisable). He said "Mario jumping on a chocolate chip" (chocolate chip is what he calls the triangle monsters). SO...that's what he got! This was a free hand drawing on a half sheet cake.
I incorporated the "checkered flag" effect on the rim because it was also a a "Mario Kart" party.
My daughter asked for rice krispie treats too (because she can't have wheat). So I made a simple "Mario Star" and added yellow coloring to the marshmallow. Easy and turned out pretty cool!
Yes, those are his goofy parents :)

Zebra Birthday Girl

I made this cake for a friend of mine. She loves Zebra print, and one of her favorite colors is Hot Pink. This was fun, but I'm glad it was a SMALL cake. Would have been boring after awhile.

Over the Hill

For my Uncle Kevin's 50th Birthday, my Aunt asked me to make an over the hill cake. I got this idea by browsing the internet to do the half grass/half dirt with a big "hill" in the center. But I gave it my own little twist with the slide. The Tombstone is made of rice cereal (so my daughter with "cake" allergies could eat it). The rocks are peanut m&ms and walnut pieces. The dirt mixture is cake crumbs and brown sugar (which in hindsight I should have left off all together). The little "Kevin" on the slide is one of my old "Little People" toys from when I was a kid. I used a sharpie to draw the glasses and goatee. This was super fun to make!

Graduation Cookie

So this is my first large cookie, made at the request of my sister-in-law. Pretty easy. This graduation head resembles another cake I made for my husband when he got his masters, but this one is made out of rice cereal treat.

Camo Cake #2

For a friend of our's 40th Birthday, they had a "Hunting for 40" party. So with a camo theme, I took it literally and made them hunt for "40". The inside was also camo colored but tasted like White Cake.

Lady Bug Birthday

A made these lady bug cupcakes for a friend's daughter who turned 6. First time I've used the grass tip. The Ladybugs are Peanut butter M&Ms with black icing. The cake batter was also colored green (although chocolate cake would have been better so it would like like dirt under the grass).

Cupcake Flower

I made this for a friend who came over for dinner on his birthday. The icing for the green lettering was thinner than I wanted so it was hard to write neatly.

Mini Shower Cake

This lady doesn't know if she's having a boy or girl. I had a little fun with that:

Dad's 50th Birthday

This was really fun to make. As you can see, it's a large casino chip. It was for my Dad's casino Themed 50th birthday party. Here's a funny story: My mom was so frantic getting ready for the party that she didn't even notice she plopped a pair of scissors right on the cake!!!!!! It would be an understatement to say I was shocked when I walked over to the cake to take a picture and saw a large pair of scissors on top! After some cussing and laughing, I managed to fix a few damaged spots :) Whew!

Happy 2nd Birthday John Paul

John Paul is all about "Cars" and "Care Bears" so I did both. The star cake is a new pan. It was fun and easy to do the clouds. And I like the swirl effect on the top. See what I mean about the matching sprinkles on the cupcakes?

Happy 1st Birthday John Paul

For my son's first birthday I decided to make a 3-D train cake. I couldn't find the 3-D pan at the store so I made my own with mini loaf pans and twinkies. The track is made out of licorice, the wheels are made out of big & small oreos, & the smoke is made of cotton candy.

Graduation (JC's Head)

I made this cake for J.C.'s graduation. He once joked about me make a cake the shape of his head. Well, I took him seriously. The hat is a big sugar cookie again like Kendra's (at the top of the page) and the tassle was his actual tassle. The cupcakes spelled out "Congratulations J.C."

Father's Day Fun

Happy Father's Day! This "DADS" cake was fun. In order from top left and going clockwise: My Uncle Andre, Pepere, J.C., and Daddy. The cake was chocolate with a Vanilla Caramel filling and Icing. (Coconut for Pepere's hair)

Helicopter Cake

"Alan" is a helicopter pilot for the Army Reserves. For the inside as you can see I colored the cake batter and swirled it to look like camo. (J.C.'s idea!)
