My son loves Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. Not just the movies, but he has read the Hobbit more than once and even wrote his own abridged version. Our kids get a big party for ages 5 & 9 so when he turned 9 of course he chose this theme. Unfortunately it has been a crazy winter and we had ice and snow this day. Our good friends made attempts to drive out anyways, but some had to turn around. Thankfully some did make it.
We begin with the corner tree, made of brown paper mailing paper. And fake leaves.
I hand drew this map of Middle Earth. White crayon helped shade in the water.
The cake could have fed an army if everyone had come. It was a huge base made to look like the Ring. I used a whole can of gold spray coloring. The mountain was rice cereal treat.
Complete with a Lego Frodo of course climbing Mt. Doom with the ring.
The whole family dressed up. Josie was Gollum. She's standing in front of the Hobbit Hole I drew for the wall.
Gianna and I were wood elves. I'm supposed to be Legolas.
Jamie was Arwen.
Nana was Galadriel (that's her wedding dress).
Dad was Bilbo. (of course with Frodo JP)
Yes, we even have a "Ring". (the shirt says "my precious")
Gandalf showed up (Cousin Matthew)
The rest of the Dragon Piñata.
The Menu:
(not shown: Took Tea, Legolas Lemonade, and Water from Running River)
Jamie did all of the signs and studied the LOTR fonts.
The Birthday Boy
We played a "Riddles in the Dark" Scavenger Hunt Game. And in addition to the cake was golden rings (butter rum Lifesavers) and riddles in the dark chocolate (kisses).
